Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop April 2023 - Blind Scrapping

Hello lovelies,

I'm Sharni Haines from South Australia and welcome to the Scrapbooking Global Design Team's monthly blog hop. Every month we have a new challenge or theme. You are more than welcome join us! You can find us on the Scrapbooking Global – Stampin’ Up! Facebook Group where we show and share our love of scrapbooking and have the monthly themes where you can join in the blog hop.

I have been absent for a few months but I am back!

This month we are creating a page using Blind Scrapping. This is Courtney's theme and I am quite excited to try it out. So, what is Blind Scrapping? It's creating a page using written instructions with no diagrams. Sounds tricky? He He, well, if you read the instructions correctly and give yourself enough time to make it, then it's actually quite a lot of fun! (I did not give myself very much time, and was a bit flustered....but I got it done. Just)!

Theme was brought to you by Courtenay!

I have been a little busy this week so I have just managed to finish and photograph my page...it's not quite finished as I would like to 'tweek' it up a little.

We were given a page of written instructions from Courtney on how to create and layout this page. I only had an hour to do, so things were a little crazy at my end! You can see below the list of instructions...I'd like to make another matching page, and this time doing it in a slow and relaxing way.

I have used a new 12 x 12" Designer Series Paper called Countryside Inn - (it's from the new Annual Catalogue going live on the 2nd May).

12 x 12" Countryside Inn Designer Series Paper - Balmy Blue, Boho Blue, Misty Moonlight & Night of Navy.

My Twine and embellishments will need to be tidied up! (I was frantically trying to read and follow instructions with moments to spare! LOL. I used the 2022-2023 In Colour Matte Decorative Dots.

I die cut the letters using the Alphabet A La Mode Dies and before I cut them, I stuck the Night of Navy Cardstock onto a sheet of Foam Adhesive so the letters would come out higher and with an adhesive back.

I know the title was supposed to be attached UNDERNEATH the photo on the DSP strip, but this just didn't work for me. (I think my photo, which I hastily grabbed from my stash was a bit big and the letters were die cut in the same colour as the DSP so would be seen very well. I decided to put them over my photo.

I die cut two shapes from the new Countryside Corners Dies to make a nested base for my journaling.

I also used the second largest one to create the 'Large Decorative Edge Shape' - it's not quite 'a decorative edge'...but time was of the essence and I had to grab and think fast.

I cut the larger shape with Boho Blue - a new In Colour for 2023-2024 to mat the journaling and inked everything with Early Esspresso Ink & a Blending Brush.

One of the instructions was to create a tag with the date and place it over the top left side of the photo. I used a new die from the Zany Zoo Dies that worked perfectly. I cut both tags with scraps from the 12 x 12" Countryside Inn Designer Series Paper. The smaller tag is die cut, the larger tag behind it was fussy cut, using the smaller one as a pattern.

The Basic White tag that I printed the date on was also die cut from the same dies. (just part of the die was used).

I made up a little colour comparison chart for you to view showing the 4 colours in this new DSP - you can see how well the two new blues work in with the existing ones. (Misty Moonlight returning colour & Boho Blue new colour).

You can see all the new and returning colours HERE.

OK, I am now going to make a nice cup of tea, go back to my scrapbook page, take a deep breath and finish it. I will update this blog once I am done.

UPDATE: I have spent some more time on my page and i am now happy with my results.

I have added the doodling around the edges as the instructions, added some die cut embellishments and done a little more inking on the outer edges of the page.

A close up of my hand drawn doodling around the edges. I used a Night of Navy Stampin' Marker.

The leaves were die cut from the Aspon Tree Dies using Balmy Blue Cardstock and I inked the edges with Night of Navy.

The ornate cut boarder is from the Elegant Boarders Dies.

I cut two sets of the boarder die and added a little Night of Navy ink to the edge.

I added a little ribbon to the tag and the journal piece.

So that is the difference from my rushed page I did earlier today and the final result I completed tonight. I am so much happier with my page!
