Celebrating Mother's Day with Magnolias.

Hello lovelies, next Sunday is Mother's Day, so today we created some cards and a little gift box ready for gifting. We used the new Good Morning Magnolia Bundle which is a stamp set & coordinating dies...it will be available from the 4th June!

But before I start, I'd like to share something a little special. My Aunty just contacted me and reminded me that my Grandmother had magnolia flowers as her wedding bouquet (in 1937) and she even sent me a photo which I'd like to share with you. I now remember the story my mother told me about the flowers - they were kept down in the cellar to keep cool and to stay fresh overnight before the wedding but unfortunately the centres of the flowers were eaten by vermine. They were able to replace them in time for the wedding with fresh ones from a tree in the grounds of the Stirling Hotel. The interesting thing about this is I have lived only a few minutes down the road from this hotel for the past 22 years or so!

My grandparent's Wedding Day - 22 December 1937. I would like to dedicate this post to my Grandmother Talbot whom I loved and miss very much. xxx

Ok, so that's a little bit of my family history for you!

Let me show you what we made today in class...two cards and a gift box.

I used Thick Whisper White as the base on both cards and Crumb Cake as a contrast background.

Here's the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set...it's two boxes.

You may be able to see the embossing finish on the piece of Crumb Cake - from the Subtle Embossing Folder. We coloured everything in with the Blends today.

On this card we used Highland Heather, Mossy Meadow, Crumb Cake and a touch of Cajun Craze. Then completely covered the flowers in Wink of Stella Glitter Brush!!

The second card we used Petal Pink as the main colour.

The Crumb Cake base was stamped with the same flowers in Soft Suede and we ripped up some vellum and placed that between the base and the flowers to soften the background.

The greeting was stamped with Versamark and embossed with White Embossing Powder.

The gift box is a 3x3" box that was made from a 9x9" sheet of White cardstock and scored at 3" on all four sides. The lid was Crumb Cake cut to 4 & 7/8" square and scored at 7/8" on all four sides. ( I forgot to take pictures of this when making it - sorry!)

- Before the lid was scored, it was stamped all over randomly with Soft Suede and the large magnolia stamp. We used the Stamparatus to do this as it is quite a large stamp.

The card was finished with some Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

Here are the Magnolia Memory Dies that coordinate with the stamp set...there are quite a lot of them and I am yet to try them all out.

To make the flower that sits on top of the gift box, I cut out all three petal shapes seen above in Whisper White then added a bit of colour (Petal Pink) with a sponge dauber before shaping them with my bone folder and joining them all together with dimensionals.

The tiny staymen in the middle of the flower was coloured one side with Crumb Cake and the other Daffodil Delight using a dauber.

Here you an see what's in the box! It's a little metal purse.

I filled the purse up with peppermints...a cute little packet for the car or your handbag.

As you may or may not know, this Magnolia Suite will be available to everyone when the new 2019/2020 Catalogue is released 4th June 2019. ......or if you join up you could get products earlier from the 2nd May as a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator!!)

Well that's all for now, thank you for visiting, enjoy your day.

Loves & hugs,

Sharni x
