Scrapbooking Global April 2019 Blog Hop Flowers or Spring

Welcome lovelies to Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop for March 2019. This month's theme is Flowers or Spring that was chosen by our Mystery Guest Designer Mariejos'ee Gagnon - Congratulations! I'm Sharni from Australia, you may have started here or just come from the lovely Amber Thompson from Canada.

Once I found out Flowers was our theme, I knew straight away what photo I was going to use and I had some ideas how I was going to layout my pages....I just had to choose my flowers....

As many of you know, we have just had Stampin' Up's! Onstage event earlier this month and those who attended, had the opportunity to purchase some new products from the new annual 2019/2020 Catalogue super early. We also received some stamp sets during the event.

One stamp set I was fortunate to receive was Floral Essence. I was so keen to try it out as soon as I could so as you can see by the masses of flowers, I had some fun!

A little exciting tip, the leaf in this new stamp set coordinates with the existing leaf punch! I love it when there are multiple stamp sets to match our punches!!

Every flower, leaf and bird that I used was created on watercolour paper.

It's a relatively easy process colouring with the Aqua Painter, inks and watercolor paper. I simply stamped some ink directly onto some stamp bases and wet the whole sheet of water paper using the Aqua Painter. Then I slowly painted on the inks allowing them to mix and run into a kaleidoscope of colours.

You can let the paper dry naturally or use the heat embossing tool like I did to dry the paper.

Once the paper was dry, I used the new Magnolia Memory Dies to cut out the petals and leaves. As you can see above, I hand drew in some lines on the petals with a black felt tip pen.

These are the new Magnolia Memory Dies.

I shaped the petals with my bone folder and then glued them together. Then I added a yellow stamen to each flower and topped each one off with the new super cute fuzzy little Perennial Essence Floral Centers....or what I like to call them...Fuzzy Wuzzies!

Here is the whole layout....

The photos are from our holiday in the UK last July 2018. Only our daughter Sapphire came as our son Angus was competing in an international Orienteering Event in Hungary and other European countries. At the start of our holiday, we spent a few days in London, before heading out to the countryside. During a self directed random tour of the city, we came across this bakery (near the Royal Opera Theatre) the extria was totally covered in flowers, pies, tarts, fruit and other decorative paraphernalia. It was so crazy it was good! And of course, I want to create one too at home now....in my hallway. (watch this space!!)

The base of the page is a 12x12" piece of Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper that I stamped an image from the Artisan Textures Clear-Mount Stamp Set repeatedly in several different colours and added some coordinating dots from the Wonderful Romance Cling Stamp Set. I hand drew the lines around the edges of the page and photo with a black tip felt pen.

Once the basic stamping was finished underneath, I started to add my flowers and other embellishments.

The birds and other images came from another new stamp set of mine, Free as a Bird.

I coloured in some Frosted & Clear Epoxy Droplets with the Blends to try to match the colours on my page.

As you may see, I placed these Epoxy Droplets on each of the elongated stamped images as well as randomly over my pages. I have also added some new Bird Ballad Metal Trinkets here and there.

I have enjoyed using water colouring as my colouring technique because of all the wonderful colours I have been able to create. You may be just able to see the little metal key above my journaling - its from the new Bird Ballad Metal Trinkets.

Like all my scrapbook pages, I had a lot of fun...and don't hold back!
