Hello lovelies, how are you? I am a little tired today after a super duper busy but fun weekend! i held two Mad Hatter's Cards and Tea Party Classes over Saturday and Sunday. What a crazy but magical weekend.
I love to do parties...any occasion, any theme...and once I decided I wanted to hold an Alice in Wonderland Tea Party, well things just raced ahead with the planning and a lot of enthusiasm. This went on for a few months mind you. Good parties take time. Lol!
Then of course the nasty COVID hit town and everything was postponed....for a few months at least anyway. We are fortunate here in South Australia at the moment as we have very few cases and have only limited restrictions. So, we were able to finally have our long awaited little tea party at The Maples!
The craft room was set up nice and organised, ready for my crafty peeps to arrive. It looks cold and dark outside, that's because its very early in the morning - it was actually a lovely spring day in the end!
Once I found that crazy White Rabbit, things went along quite smoothly.
The dining table was set and ready for deliciousness to be served at 12pm, after the cards were made.
My beautiful ladies were very busy cutting and creating their cards...
...there were some fabulous outfits and hats too!
I had some cheeky friends...Kelly and Michelle...
...and some special guests... Sapphire our daughter and her boyfriend, Morgan. Aren't they just adorable?
We made three special cards...(non Stampin'Up! today!) oops! But this is the exception, not the norm.
You can see the beautiful butterflies from the Butterfly Wishes stamp set and punch. We stamped with Pool Party and Rococo Rose. Once the butterflies were stuck on with Dimensionals, they were coloured in with Wink of Stella. All the card bases, ribbons and embelishments were stampin'Up!, the image was outsourced.
Don't you just love that Pool Party Sheer Ribbon in the top left corner?
The final card was a funny one...we coloured it in with Stampin' Blends. The circles were cut out with the circle dies.
Like all parties, one needs a game or two... we played pass the parcel with a twist! If you came across a playing card, you had to perform a challenge before you could keep the prize.
Yup, there's always one...lunch is NOT ready to be served yet Madam Rabbit!
Bad bunny!
Oh, there we go again...no time for breaks Alice...you are late for a very important date!
Everyone received a tiny jar of pink glitter...to decorate their cards or just to take home and sprinkle on the cat. (ooops, I did not just say that).
But I did make it very loud and clear that under NO circumstances is this glitter to be drunk.
You can't eat or drink glitter (unless it's the edible stuff from the cake decorators...and this is not).
The only cat allowed in my dining room is this one. Francis and Tom my REAL cats would proceed to make themselves at home on the fake grass while chewing on the ribbons decorating the table pretties. (anyone else's cats eat ribbon? It's so annoying and a bit rude).
After the cards were finished, it was time for tea...and a bit of lunch. There was a variety of Tea Sandwiches (curried egg, black forest ham with mustard and honey and tuna with capers and sweet pickled cucumbers) Smoked Salmon with Capers on top of Cream Cheese mixed with lemon juice and Horseradish, Vol au Vents filled with Chicken, Leek, Mushrooms and Feta Cheese and mini sausage rolls and meat pies...
...don't get me started on dessert!
Alice and The Queen of Hearts were fabulous helpers serving food to our guests. (When they weren't 'testing' samples before serving!LOL)
Here is my beautiful friend Denise and her daughter Kate. I was so impressed with Kate's outfit!!!
It was a lovely two days...and I must say, a lot of sandwiches!
I think everyone had a nice time, and I really appreciated them all coming. Because if it wasn't for my guests, there would be no use having a tea party!
On the Sunday, there was need for MORE cake...a Birthday Cake. It was Joy's Birthday and she had chosen to spend her special day with her daughter Amanda and all of us crazy Hatters! Isn't that lovely?
I even had a little tiara for her to wear. happy Birthday Joy!
The 2 days went by very quickly, but there are some special memories now ready for my scrapbooking! (SApphire, Hannah, Nat & the White Rabbit).
Here's me and my mumma!
Well my crafty friends, that is the lot from me today.
I could go on with a hundred more photos, but you have some crafting to do I'm sure.
A special thanks to my mum for helping Sapphire with her costume and amazing headpiece, to Sapphire for all the fabulous makeup, my dad for helping in the kitchen and filming, to my friends who helped out in the kitchen on Saturday when things were sooo busy!! A thank you to Saph, Evalin and Morgan for serving and preparing food, to Nat who helped with the bubbles and bits on Sunday, to my wonderful hubby who tolerates my crazy ideas, puts up with the house being turned upside down and having his space taken over by a group crafters over his weekend... and to EVERYONE for coming and making this event so much fun!!!
Thank you for coming down the RAbbit HoLe with me and escaping the big world of crazy for a little while. Have a fabulous day.
